On March 25, the UNLV community gathered at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art for "Shared Stories, Shared Healing," a unique event that blended creative expression with the principles of restorative justice. Led by Aparna Polavarapu, Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution, and co-sponsored by the Jean Nidetch Care Center and the Barrick Museum of Art, the afternoon featured live storytelling, a guided letter-writing workshop, and community artwork.

The Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution successfully wrapped up its Spring 2026 Lunch and Learn Series, a faculty-led initiative designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world practice. Throughout the semester, students gathered to explore the diverse frameworks of conflict resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) through the specialized lenses of Boyd Law’s esteemed faculty. 

The series launched with Saltman Co-Director and Professor Aparna Polavarapu, who provided a profound deep dive into Restorative Justice, setting a thoughtful tone for the semester.

ABA Dispute Resolution Conference Reception 2023

The Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution hosted an evening reception for attendees of the 25th Annual American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Spring Conference in Las Vegas. The reception was held on May 10, 2023, at the Thomas & Mack Redd Room. ABA Dispute Resolution Conference – SAVE THE DATE

Annual Spring Conference in Las Vegas

The American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section will bring its annual spring conference to Las Vegas from May 10-13.

The theme for the 2023 event, which is the largest ADR conference in the world, is “Leading Change Through ADR: Strategies for Navigating our World Today.”

Throughout the four-day conference, attendees will learn about the latest dispute resolution techniques and trends, share ideas with experts and peers, and network with fellow ADR professionals and leaders.

The Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution will host a reception during the conference on May 10.

Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service returns to Las Vegas for weeklong series of seminars in January

Back in January 2020, dispute resolution practitioners and educators from around the country made their way to Las Vegas and the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV for a series of training seminars presented by the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service.

 

The week-long event, which was hosted by the law school’s Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution, was such a resounding success that FMCS officials quickly made plans for a return visit in 2021. And then … COVID-19 hit.

West Coast Dispute Resolution Conversation

The first West Coast Dispute Resolution Conversation was held in Las Vegas on December 7 & 8, 2018 at UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law and the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution.
