Raef Granger

Assistant Director of Academic Success Program
Assistant Professor-In-Residence
Bio:

Raef Granger brings more than two decades of experience in law, education, entrepreneurship, and business coaching to his role as Assistant Professor in Residence and Assistant Director of the Academic Success Program at the William S. Boyd School of Law. His teaching focuses on helping students build the academic and life skills essential for success in law school and the legal profession—including writing, outlining, time management, and stress resilience.

Prior to joining Boyd School of Law, Professor Granger served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he taught Professional Responsibility and worked in the Academic Success Program. He also served as adjunct faculty at the University of New Hampshire Paul College of Business and NHTI in Concord, New Hampshire.

Before entering legal academia, Professor Granger began his legal career in 1997 and, in 2001, founded his own client-centered law practice. After relocating to the Seacoast of New Hampshire, he continued to serve individuals and small businesses from his office in Portsmouth. He represented clients in plaintiff’s personal injury, workers' compensation, and small business matters, with a particular focus on solopreneurs. He later built a strong reputation in consumer bankruptcy law—especially in Chapter 7 and complex Chapter 13 cases in the Federal Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire—while continuing to counsel small business owners on legal and strategic matters.

From 2010 to 2011, he served as staff counsel and regulatory counsel at the New Hampshire State Banking Department, where he also assisted the general counsel in her duties, advising on financial regulations and compliance.

In 2017, he began coaching solo practitioners and professionals on mindfulness, goal setting, time management, sales strategy, and overcoming mindset barriers. He created and led Raef’s Masterclass, a monthly leadership and growth forum that ran for eight years and supported entrepreneurs in achieving both personal and professional milestones and happiness.

Professor Granger has also presented and delivered workshops for corporate teams on leadership, communication, and team dynamics, often utilizing the DISC personality methodology. He was honored to speak on a national stage alongside Dave Ramsey and his team of motivational speakers at the Bankruptcy Law Summit, where he addressed attorneys and business professionals on client-centered practice development.

He earned his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and holds a B.A. in English and an M.S.Ed. from SUNY Geneseo. He is licensed (inactive) to practice law in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and holds permanent teaching certifications in secondary education in both New York and Texas.

Professor Granger taught high school English at Roma Independent School District in Roma, Texas. He is also a certified Baptiste Power Yoga instructor and remains active in leadership and professional development communities. He has twice been named BNI Chapter Member of the Year in New Hampshire and served as chapter president three times. His professional affiliations have included the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Baptiste Yoga Community.

In addition to his academic and professional work, two interesting facts about Professor Granger are that he co-founded The D6 Generation podcast—a miniature and board gaming show that has garnered over 3 million listens—and that his first entrepreneurial venture began at age 16, when he volunteered to perform a magic show for a neighbor’s child’s birthday party. Using business cards he designed in shop class, he was soon booked every weekend for the next two years.
