Michael "Mike" McArthur is the Director of the Wiener-Rogers Law Library and an Associate Professor of Law at the William S. Boyd School of Law.

Professor McArthur joins Boyd Law with over a decade of distinguished leadership and specialized experience in academic law libraries. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Director of Access and Collection and a Foreign, Comparative, and International Law (FCIL) Librarian at the Duke University School of Law, where he was also a Senior Lecturing Fellow. Prior to his time at Duke, he served as a Reference Librarian at the University of Michigan Law School.

Professor McArthur’s research and teaching focus on modern legal research methodology, global legal resources, and emerging technologies. He has co-developed and taught courses on legal research and analysis, international and foreign law research, and the intersection of artificial intelligence and legal information. His scholarship includes works exploring diversity, equity, and inclusion in legal research curricula, and he co-authors the regular column Behind the Books: Global Insights from Law Librarians for the International Journal of Legal Information.

Globally active in the academic community, Professor McArthur has been invited to present on legal systems, publishing, and legal AI tools at institutions in Japan and Brazil, and has delivered several presentations at the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) annual conferences. He also holds key leadership roles in professional organizations, currently serving as the Secretary for the International Association of Law Libraries and an Assistant Editor for the International Journal of Legal Information.

Professor McArthur earned his B.A. in Japanese from Brigham Young University, his J.D. from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and his M.L.I.S. with a Certificate in Law Librarianship from the University of Washington, Seattle.
