Lecture Title: Reclaiming the Constitution From the Shadows of an Authoritarian Presidency
The talk will explore how the Supreme Court has steadily expanded presidential power, tipping the balance away from Congress and the courts. The speaker argues that safeguarding American democracy requires rejecting the “unitary executive” theory and restoring meaningful constitutional checks to prevent presidential overreach.
Speaker: Mark Joseph Stern — senior writer for Slate, co-host of the Amicus podcast, frequent MSNBC contributor, and longtime Supreme Court reporter. He holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and has covered the Court since 2013.
