William S. Boyd School of Law is located at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Law School has a number of nationally recognized programs which prepare students for legal practice.
- Lawyering Process Program - Ranked 4th in the Nation by the 2012 U.S. News & World Report - During this required three-semester program, students develop skills in legal research, analysis and writing as well as oral advocacy, client interviewing, counseling, and negotiation.
- Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution - Ranked 9th in the Nation by the 2012 U.S. News & World Report - This program provides law students with professional training in the theory and practice of dispute resolution and provides information and educational opportunities to facilitate the resolution of public and private sector disputes imbued with the public interest.
- Thomas & Mack Legal Clinic - Ranked 22nd in the Nation by the 2012 U.S. News & World Report - This innovative, interdisciplinary program gives student attorneys the chance to work under faculty supervision to provide high-quality representation to children, youths, and adults. Clinical areas include juvenile justice, immigration, and criminal appeals.
- Society of Advocates - Through this co-curricular organization, students represent the school in national and international interscholastic advocacy competitions. While receiving advanced training in oral advocacy negotiation and counseling skills, complex analysis and writing, Boyd students have the confidence & experience to formulate complex arguments, competently advise a client and negotiate effectively on behalf of a client.
RECENT SUCCESSES:
- 2010 Asylum & Refugee Law Competition - 2nd place brief, 2nd overall.
- 2010 Prince Evidence Competition - 2nd place brief.
- 2010 ABA Negotiations Competition - Advanced to national competition.
- 2010 National Moot Court Competition - 2nd in regionals.
- 2011 ABA Client Counseling - 2nd in region.
- Ruby Vale National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition - 2nd out of 24 teams.
For the entering Class of 2010:
- The median LSAT was 159, and the median undergraduate GPA was 3.46.
- 1,745 applications were submitted for a class size of 153 students.
- 41% are women, 33% are minorities, and 74% are Nevada residents.
