A. Michael (Mike) Beaird has a broad acquaintance with the creation, dissemination and preservation of information and knowledge. He served as law librarian at the University of Mississippi in the late 1970's, then founded the Austin, Texas division of Butterworth Legal Publishers in 1982. After fifteen years in legal publishing, he accepted the position of associate director at St. John's University law library in Queens, NYC. He joined the University of Arkansas at Little Rock faculty in 1998 as law library director and associate professor of law. He taught legal research to every first year student for the next eight years until his retirement in June, 2006. UALR awarded him tenure in 2003. He joined the Wiener-Rogers Law Library as interim director for 2007-2008 while the faculty conduct the search for the permanent director. Professor Beaird's degrees are: BA, University of Texas 1969, JD, University of Oklahoma 1974, and Master of Law Librarianship, 1975, University of Washington (Seattle). He's happy to be in Las Vegas and will retire (again) in 2008.
