The UNLV Law Library collection is growing rapidly, and has already become the largest legal information resource in the state. We presently offer a collection of more than 200,000 volumes covering most primary sources of American law, full runs of over 800 law journals, and a constantly growing collection of treatises on all aspects of law. These collections are housed in several reading rooms throughout the building. Maps and locator guides are available at the Circulation Desk.

The descriptions below provide a general overview of the materials which can be found in each of our collections.  For specific library holdings, search the library catalog or peruse our Recent Acquisitions lists.

Core Collection: The Core Collection includes federal statutes, regulations, and cases, regional reporters, digests, and citators.

Core II Collection: Core II contains second copies of many of the library's major sets, such as ALR's and Pacific Reports. It also contains older, out of date materials such as older editions of the CFR.

Microforms: The microforms collection contains information comparable to tens of thousands of printed volumes. These include older runs of periodicals, Congressional bills and reports, historical cases from early in U.S. history, international treaties, state attorney general opinions, session laws, and many other items.

Treatise Room: Located on the 3rd floor of the rectangular building, the Treatise collection houses English cases and statutes, reports of agency decisions, Restatement of the Law, and various other primary and secondary sources as well as the Library's collection of scholarly and other treatises.

State Collection: The State Collection contains all 50 state codes, as well as state-specific case reporters. Nevada Reports and a copies of the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code are housed here.

Periodicals: The Law Library periodical collection, located on the fourth floor of the rectangular building contains complete runs of all major law reviews and law-related journals. Periodicals are shelved in call number order, roughly alphabetically by title.

Reference: The reference collection includes the American Law Reports, American Jurisprudence and Corpus Juris Secundum, Am. Jur. Pleading & Practice Forms, Am. Jur. Legal Forms, the periodical indexes.

Reference Desk: The reference desk collection is located on the shorter shelving in the Circulation Area. It contains ready reference materials, including dictionaries, citation guides and directories. Self-help legal books, and the Popular Fiction and DVD collection is also shelved here.

Reserve: The Reserve Reading Room contains materials needed for background reading and research for law school classes, as well as Nevada specific materials, and current, unbound periodicals. These materials may not be checked out.
