  Professor Douglas McFarland comes to the UNLV Boyd School of Law as a visiting professor for spring, 2010, with 35 years of law teaching experience at three law schools. His primary teaching and writing interests are civil procedure and evidence.

Following graduation from NYU School of Law and three years of practice with a large Minneapolis firm, McFarland began teaching at Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has been on the faculty since that time, with leaves taken for study resulting in a doctorate in speech-communication, two years working for the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court of the United States, two years as a candidate for the U.S. Senate, and visits.

Students have elected him Professor of the Year five times, most recently in 2007. McFarland has numerous publications, including three books, many law review articles, numerous CALI exercises, and many other writings.
