Recruitment Programs

Boyd School of Law organizes both a Fall and Spring Interview Program. In addition, we invite employers to come to campus throughout the year to interview Boyd students and alumni. If you would like to participate in our Interview Programs or schedule a date to interview on-campus, please contact Poppy Johnston at (702) 895-2326 or poppy.johnston@unlv.edu.

  • Fall Interview Program – The program, which occurs during the month of September, includes both On-Campus Interview program and a Résumé Collect program. During this program, the majority of our private sector interviews occur; public sector agencies and the judiciary participate in this program as well.   • Spring Interview Program – This program provides small and medium firms as well as public sector agencies the opportunity to interview Boyd students for summer and post-graduation positions. Details on the Spring 2009 are coming soon.

Quick Stats about Boyd School of Law & Our Students

William S. Boyd School of Law is located at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Established in 1998, the Law School is celebrating its Ten Year Anniversary this year.  While a relatively young institution, the Law School has a number of nationally recognized programs which prepare students for legal practice.

  • Lawyering Process Program - Ranked 3rd in the Nation by the 2008 U.S. News & World Report - During this required three-semester program, students develop skills in legal research, analysis and writing as well as oral advocacy, client interviewing, counseling, and negotiation.

  • Thomas & Mack Legal Clinic - Ranked 12th in the Nation by the 2008 U.S. News & World Report - This innovative, interdisciplinary program gives student attorneys the chance to work under faculty supervision to provide high-quality representation to children, youths, and adults. Clinical areas include juvenile justice, immigration, and criminal appeals.
  • Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution - Ranked 9th in the Nation by the 2008 U.S. News & World Report - This program provides law students with professional training in the theory and practice of dispute resolution and provides information and educational opportunities to facilitate the resolution of public and private sector disputes imbued with the public interest.
  • Society of Advocates - Through this co-curricular organization, students represent the school in national and international interscholastic advocacy competitions. Members develop superior written and oral advocacy as well as counseling and dispute resolution skills. In 2007, Boyd students won the National Championships in the ABA Client Counseling Competition and were semifinalists in the international competition.

For the entering Class of 2010:

  • The Median LSAT was 157, and the mean undergraduate GPA was 3.38.
  • 1,713 applications were submitted for a class size of 153 students.
  • 48% are women, 30% are minorities, and 76% are Nevada residents.

Grading and Class Ranking Information

Beginning with the Fall 2007 semester, the Boyd School of Law changed its grading curve to make the grading system more consistent with other law schools in the region. Please click here for a letter from the Chair of the Academic Standards Committee explaining the change.
